- This is what you have come to the Island of Eden to cure. The player character is stricken by it as well. The disease causes fevers, dehydration and eczema-like spots on the skin. While the plague will cause maladies, the player will never die from the plague as long as taking medicine, drinking water, and occasional rest are maintained. It is speculated that the disease is not caused by bacteria or a virus, and instead is caused by miasmata - "bad air". In the end when you make the cure, you will see on the note about how it kills germs.
